About the event
"If only I could paint like [insert your favorite painter here]..." Well, guess what? You can!
In this workshop, we'll practice a "Master Study" by essentially copying what we see in a master's work, brushstroke by brushstroke. While a bit daunting at first, this practice is easier than it sounds--and is super helpful in understanding how great art is created.
"But wait... isn't that cheating?"
No, it's learning! Master studies are a totally legitimate and ethical way of learning to become a better painter, and this practice has a long history. There is one small caveat: You shouldn't try to sell your master study or attempt to pass it on as your own original work. Remember, it's a tool for you to learn how to create great art of your own!
For this class, you will need to come prepared with a high-resolution image* of an oil or acrylic painting…
